hehe. So I made the cake, and it’s great (apart from the slightly overcooked and therefore less moist bottom layer), but alas I forgot my camera. So I don’t have any proof, but I will be making this cake again so don’t worry!

If you are an employee working for a reasonably large organisation that can cover your salary, you can afford to “blow [your] time constraints”. If you work in a small business, even as an employee, where the margins are narrower, then blowing the time constraints would mean that the practice is not covering the costs of you providing a service (and as I said before, that is not just your salary but all the costs that the practice carries such as salaries for other staff, rent, consumables, third party insurance, etc).

I now work for a state run health organisation as a salaried doctor providing drug and alcohol treatment – I get to spend 20 to 30 minutes with my patients, many of whom come from a quite marginalised background and have multiple complexities and challenges. This is rewarding work, but I certainly could not practice this style of work in a bulk billing general practice as the practice would have lost money with my work making it unviable.

Haha, you’ve got a while yet. You’ve still got the cool clinical skills to learn yet, and the fun of weekly hospital.

But I will say this is another thing that scared, vexed, and tickled me all at the same time:

-In regards to DHC:
” So as a minimum, you should study the material from PBL tutorials, lectures and the supplied reference materials. However we encourage students to going beyond this with a view to doing better and ultimately preparing more thoroughly better for the years ahead in the course and as doctors.”

Ahahaha! As if anyone gives a shit about DHC.
